السودوإيفيدرين يستخدم للتخفيف من الأنف أو احتقان الجيوب الأنفية التي تسببها نزلات البرد, التهاب الجيوب الأنفية, و حمى القش والحساسية التنفسية الأخرى. كما أنها تستخدم لتخفيف الأذن الازدحام الناجم عن التهاب الأذن أو عدوى.

بعض هذه المستحضرات متوفرة فقط مع وصفة الطبيب.

لا تعطي أي دون وصفه طبية (OTC) السعال وأدوية البرد على الطفل أو الأطفال تحت سن 4 سنوات. باستخدام هذه الأدوية في الأطفال الصغار جدا قد تسبب خطيرة أو ربما تهدد الحياة في آثار جانبية .
